With over 15 years of experience in safety, health, and operations, I help create a better and safer world. In working with a wide variety of businesses, I’ve found that it’s all about building trust, breaking down barriers, opening up discussions, and identifying opportunities. End result: Your business improves its bottom line.

Who am I?

I’m a safety expert and thought leader (and fantastic podcast guest, I must say) who holds a B.S. in Safety Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and a Masters of Engineering in Advanced Safety and Engineering Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I also own a collection of meaningful industry acronyms, including a Certified Safety Professional (CSP).

In my career, I have specialized in supply chain and logistics, with focused dives into manufacturing, production, oil and gas, chemical, and more.

But as any true safety expert knows, the work is more than observing what’s happening on the lines and around the big and small machines. It’s about cultivating emotional intelligence in both the leadership and the workforce. It’s about identifying problems in the culture and providing positive solutions. It’s about creating a plan and sticking to it — or, adjusting as new challenges arise.

I’m also a frequent and sought-after speaker at safety and industry conferences, and the author of a cool and fun safety newsletter that might even make you laugh!

Look, straight talk: As a woman working in an industry made up mostly of men, I have seen firsthand that a large part of the challenges we face are centered around imperfect communication, peer pressure, and my favorite old saw: “That’s just the way things are done.”

i.e., I talk to your people. I get to know them and understand their systems (a favorite activity!). And in doing so, I learn about the issues they face.

i.e., I roll up my sleeves and get down to work with your team, leading any number of focused workshops and exercises. I help them to see their challenges in a new way.

Safety is my life and a large part of what I’m thinking about all day. I love to use data, stories, emotions, and relationships to help entire organizations — at every level — see the benefits of mitigating their risk … and taking action to do so.
